It's not often that we get a look into the mind of a hospital CEO. It's not that they are out of touch or unreachable, but most of the time they are just downright busy running one of the largest employers in their respective communities. And while I would argue that new Olathe Health CEO Stan Holm and retired CEO Frank Devocelle are both down-to-earth and easy to talk to if you cross paths with them, when you are overseeing 60 locations in 4 counties, my guess is many of the employees don't see them very much. So imagine my surprise when I received a recent message that Stan Holm shared presumably with his 2500+ employees and the community-at-large. Today, with permission from Olathe Health, I'm sharing it with you. Read his message in it's entirety here. COVID decision making insight from Olathe Health CEO Stan Holm
Those who know me, know that my wife Molly works in healthcare as well, managing the pharmacy at Children's Mercy Kansas. As a result, I'm often exposed to decision-making or perspectives that maybe the general public isn't privy to. (That said, she often has to dumb it down for me and certainly isn't sharing hospital trade secrets). But what impressed me most about this message from Holm was that it gave an inside look at how he's leading the Olathe Health System during arguably the most challenging time ever for most healthcare providers. I fully appreciate his time, thought process and willingness to share openly how Olathe Health has tackled head-on the challenge of the COVID pandemic. It's refreshing and goes a long way to creating a level of trust among employees and customers. And if you're in the position to do so, I encourage you to do the same.
